Teaching

Hi, my name is Mrs. Majka. This will be my tenth year teaching at the Hoover Elementary School. I earned my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education at Salem State College and my Masters in Literacy, Curriculum, and Instruction from Lesley University. I taught kindergarten for three years and third grade for six.  A highlight of my teaching career was having the opportunity to have so many of my kindergarten students again in third grade. Now I'm ready for another exciting change as I prepare to teach second grade in the fall.  I'm happy to say that I love what I do and the people with whom I work.

Family

I have been married almost as long as I have been teaching. My husband Eric and I have a beautiful four-year old son named Justin.  We are very lucky because my parents take care of him while Eric and I are at work.  Justin has completed his first year of preschool in West Newbury where we live.  He loves it and wishes he could go every day!

We also have two cats -

and

And the puppy...

                                         Lucy!

She's a Puggle, which is a mix between a Pug and a Beagle.

Other Interests

In my spare time I enjoy reading and scrapbooking (I'm very far behind in both!) I love to get together with friends and travel as much as I can. Last year we went to Disneyworld, Las Vegas, and Dallas to see the Cowboys play the Patriots.  What a game!  Here's how it turned out.

I also got to attend the AFC championship game between the Pats and the Chargers.  It was a bit cold but worth it!

Some of my other favorite things are...

  • color: blue
  • number: 5
  • sport: football
  • flower: Gerbera daisies (all colors!)
  • music: anything but country music
  • food: tuna fish casserole - don't knock it till you try it!
  • ice cream: Grapenut - YUM!
  • vacation spot: the beach
  • TV show: I love reality TV, especially Dancing with the Stars
  • movie: anything that makes me laugh or cry
